January 2020 Events & Announcements Print

Notes from the Chair

Welcome to the January edition of Events & Announcements!

We started the month in San Francisco for PCMA's Annual Convening Leaders. One of our Board members spoke on a panel about inclusive events, followed by our largest networking event yet! We ended the month in Philadelphia for our first Strategic Planning meeting, where we discussed the vision, mission, and goals of the association.

At the beginning of the month we traveled to San Francisco for PCMA Convening Leaders. We listened to Board member Ron Renee Roley speak on a panel about inclusivity in events, and then we hosted our biggest networking event yet! Sponsored by Palm Springs and hosted by Hilton San Francisco Union Square, this 4th annual event drew the largest attendance of any of our events. We loved seeing all of the familiar faces and getting acquainted with all of the new ones! Additional sponsors: Visit St. Petersburg/Clearwater, AOM, PRA Northern California, Soulflower, San Francisco Broadway, Lollipop Signs and Champagne Creative Group.

Strategic Planning Meeting
On January 25, the Executive Board and Board of Directors met in Philadelphia for our first Strategic Planning session. With the help of facilitator Gregg Talley, the Board discussed the vision, mission, and goals of the association. We are so excited about the continued progression of the organization and are eager to turn our discussions into actions!

Join VisitNorfolk and hear a TEDx-style presentation from author and speaker, Alissa Carpenter, about why Inclusion is the crescendo in our efforts to achieve equality; she will speak at 5:45pm. Round out our time together enjoying libations and eats, and meeting new friends.
